MUSTAFA PAYS TRIBUTE AND EXPRESSES HIS SPIRITUALITY IN HIS NEW SONG “ALI”

WHO IS ALI?

On  30.3.2021. Mustafa released a song called “Ali” in tribute to his friend Ali Rizeig.

Ali Rizeig (1998-2017) was gunned down as he stood behind the screen door of his home.

Homicide investigators have  said that the shooting was not targeted

The news was shocking and Mustafa never truly recovered from the sadness of the event.

In 2017, there were multiple homicides in Toronto. As many notice, there is a constant problem with violence and gun abuse in the streets of Toronto.

THE MUSIC

The song was taken from the forthcoming debut project  “When Smoke Rises”, and both the visuals and the vocals are beautiful.

The melodies and the lyrics are moving, but they convey a powerful message.

Mustafa portrays the aftermath of gun and hood violence and the problem of glorifying them in today’s songs.

A very similar message was portrayed in his last hit “ Stay Alive” in 2020.

The Canadian artist  found comfort in his spirituality and love for Allah, as he commented:

“ Oh Allah, forgive Ali and elevate his station among those who are guided. Send him along the path of those who came before, and forgive us and him, Oh Lord of the worlds. Enlarge for him his grave and shed light upon him in it.”

Mustafa is also known for writing hit songs for the Weeknd “Attention”, the Jonas Brothers “Sucker”, and Camila Cabello’s “All These Years”.

While he writes catchy and joyful music for others, this artist is committed to sharing important messages through his own music.

Quotable lyrics:
“ I told you it wouldn’t be safe

I told you it wasn’t the way

You should’ve left your home

I told you to go”
