Thee Sacred Souls Release “Easier Said Than Done”

Thee Sacred Souls dropped their newest single “Easier Said Than Done”. A gorgeous rock tune that echoes back to the 60’s. It comes as a smooth record from an incredibly smooth band. Indeed with the velvety vocals from lead singer Josh Lane, Thee Sacred Souls have come together to create a beautiful song with a new spin on a classic sound.

Beginning their days performing club shows throughout the San Diego area, Thee Sacred Souls quickly established themselves as a tour de force soul project. From these shows, they were picked up by the famous Daptone label. Their first few drops hit tens of millions of streams in only a year. Furthermore, the band’s music has earned the attention of landmark publications like Billboard and Rolling Stone. So too have heavy-hitters in the industry shouted them out, including Princess Nokia, Timbaland, and Gary Clark Jr.

Bassist Sal Samano, drummer Alex Garcia, and singer Josh Lane make up the lineup for this fantastic band. Production by Bosco Mann has coloured their first LP as a warm record with deep feeling. Generally an easygoing listen, the album is still filled with the grit and groove you would expect from an R&B record of this caliber. Filled with influence from all over the world, the record is as undeniable as each individual talent in the group. Coming off a recent performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the band is proving that the only way they have to move is up.

Trust the Way You Feel

“Easier Said Than Done” is a beautiful tune about true love and the work it takes to earn it. The deep groove created by the rhythmic stylings of Samano and Garcia make for a beautiful texture and driving force to the track. Floating guitar work plays a nostalgic, yet melancholic mood over those foundations. Of course, what truly brings the track together is the vocals by Josh Lane. “Show me this love is real, that’s easier said than done”. The phrase punctuates each line spoken by the singer, adding a feeling of pain that is worth going through. Additionally, the backing vocals softly singing the refrain are the final piece that helps form this record into the gorgeous work it is.

Directed and shot by Casey Liu, the video features the soft browns and yellows of old school videography. Palm trees and blue skies pass through the frame, as well as red brickwork on the sides of buildings. Sunlight streams toward the camera through a massive winding tree that Lane sings beneath. The band plays as individuals in a massive field, before coming together on roof silhouetted by the sunset. No doubt aware of the classic impression of their music, the visual capitalizes on this makes for a mature and entertaining watch.
