Asake Toronto

Nigerian sensation Asake is bringing his electrifying blend of Afrobeats and amapiano to Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena on April 12th, promising an unforgettable night of music and culture. But that’s not all that’s happening around this rising star.

Before his highly anticipated performance, Asake was warmly received in Toronto, where he had the honor of meeting with Toronto Raptors President Masai Michael Ujiri at the Scotia Bank Arena for a Raptors game. As an avid sports fan, Asake also had the opportunity to watch the match, soaking in the vibrant energy of Toronto’s sports scene.

After captivating audiences in Toronto, Asake will continue his tour across Canada, heading to Edmonton on Saturday, April 20th, to perform at the Rogers Place. This marks another exciting opportunity for fans to experience the magic of Asake’s music firsthand.

In addition to his upcoming performance in Toronto, Asake recently made waves by partnering with Nigerian megastar Burna Boy on a remix of his track “Sungba.” While Burna Boy brought his hit-making status to the collaboration, Asake’s live-wire linguistic conduit stole the show, infusing the song with witty banter and double meanings.

Asake’s rise to fame has been meteoric, but it’s only the beginning of what promises to be a legendary career. With his innovative approach to music and magnetic stage presence, he’s set to conquer the hearts of fans worldwide.

Exploring the Secret Behind Asake’s Meteoric Rise to Fame

Born Ahmed Ololade, Asake is an Obafemi Awolowo University drama department graduate who burst into the music scene without warning. Asake is his mother’s name. He is also a highly inventive student of Nigeria’s Yoruba language, his primary medium of expression.

His breakout album, “Mr. Money With The Vibe,” released in September 2022, propelled him to global fame, with sold-out shows in Atlanta and London and a collaboration with Tiwa Savage on the hit track “Loaded.”

What sets Asake apart is his ability to blend various music styles and cultural influences seamlessly. From Afrobeats to Fuji to Amapiano, he infuses each track with his distinctive chameleonic qualities, creating an astonishing blast of creativity that captivates audiences worldwide.

He uses slang fresh from the streets coupled with expressions popularized by fuji (an Islam-inflected southwest Nigeria form of popular music) and the entire Isale Eko (downtown Lagos) army of street-dwelling miscreants. Asake brazenly embraces urban “hood” culture and its seductive promise of social rebellion. Yet, at the same time, he is not the kind of guy moms loathe because he’s also endowed with a winning comic gift and bad-boy-on-the-mend sort of aura.
